Pe Orange functioneaza? O fi un serviciu pe care trebuie sa-l activeze operatorul?
When Steve Jobs announced that the new iPhone 4 would come with video calling, most Apple fans were thrilled with the idea. The Cupertino company has called this new feature FaceTime and is only available on the fourth-generation iPhone, which would not have gone down well with 3GS, 3G and 2G customers.
Today was the first official day that we started getting our shiny new iPhone 4 phones – some have been unlucky and experienced a few problems, such as yellowish spots and poor reception – but the main issue is wondering how to activate FaceTime.
I decided to look into this issue following a phone call with my cousin; my first stop was the Apple forum. Once you have restored all your setting on your new iPhone 4 you will no doubt see a message on the FaceTime setting saying “Waiting for activation”, do not worry as this is perfectly normal.
This is how things will happen, once you have transferred your number from your old SIM to your micro SIM you will have to wait a while. Once your carrier has transferred this you should then turn your iPhone 4 off and then turn it back on. Then make certain that you are where you can receive a Wi-Fi signal and FaceTime should then activate.
A number of owners have been complaining that it does not work, only to learn that they were trying to use 3G – it only works with Wi-Fi. Please let us know if you still have activation problems.

Suffering from a FaceTime “waiting for activation” error? So was I. The one thing I wanted to try most on my new Canadian iPhone 4 was FaceTime. I’ve made no secret about being jealous of Chad and Leanna, so the instant iPhone 4 was in my hand and on Wi-Fi I went to hit the FaceTime button and… found no button. I checked my Settings immediately and saw, under the FaceTime on/off toggle the chillingly cryptic words: waiting for activation. What the h3ll?
To make matters worse, Rene’s was working fine. Intolerable!
Now FaceTime functions over Wi-Fi but it uses your phone number to identify and connect with other iPhone 4 users. Since my carrier, Fido was — of course — having problems during the iPhone 4 launch, with some people having to wait up to 24hrs for their SIM to work, I immediately thought they might be the culprit. I also did the usual trouble-shooting steps of reseting the network connections, turning my iPhone 4 on and off, removing and replacing my SIM, and even did a full restore. No luck. My phone and SMS were working fine, so Fido was looking like less of a culprit. Unfortunately.
So off to the Apple Store I went. It was the day after launch and they were still packed but the manager heard my plight, found me someone to help, and they immediately escalated me to an iPhone genius-type-person. He told me I needed the Fido 7.2 carrier update. It downloads over the air (OTA) but you can help it along by going to the Settings, General, About page and waiting a few moments.
Next he took me through a few easy steps:
We went on Wi-Fi
We did a hard power down (holding down sleep + home until the power off slider appeared).
We rebooted.
And voila, the buttons popped up and I was able to make my first FaceTime call!

Semnal ok. De carcasa tot tmpul trebuie sa ai grija sa nu se sparga.
Iar facetime este o porcarie la carecastepti cel putin 1-3 minute pana te conectezi cu persoana.
Ca iphone mi se pare mai nepractic decat 3gs.
Pentru mine e genul de telefon pe care il voi da la un moment dat de perete.
Au cam dat-o in bara cu el.
La mine tot nu functioneaza FaceTime. Am incercat toate variantele enumerate mai sus. Chiar sunt singurul care ma aflu in aceasta situatie?
Incep sa cred ca e de la Limera1n + ultrasn0w. Nu as vrea sa incerc nimic de pe Cydia.
Am incercat o gramada de solutii gasite pe net si nimic.
Nu imi apare optiunea cu facetime, bunotul de on/off.
Singura optiune gasita e dupa ce am instalat din cydia facebreak si am activat force ft button.
Imi apare in timpul unei convorbiri optiunea facetime (cu semnul?) dar in setari tot nimic…
O fi de la jalbreak?
Am incercat o gramada de solutii gasite pe net si nimic.

Am o intrebare pt cei carora nu le merge. Telefoanele au fost deblocate si le folostiti pe un operator neoficial?
Daca da….asta e problema voastra. Nici FaceTime nici Push Notifications nu merg (exact aceeasi problema ca la unlock-urile precedente de la 3.0 in sus….unele optiuni merg numai daca nu faceti unlock….simplu).

Cititi acolo tot ce este necesar…....totusi pt cei care nu au folosit optiunea asta inainte de 4.1 mai au putin de asteptat.
@marulluiadam: nu stiu cum functioneaza facebreak, sau daca este acelasi lucru cu MiTime, dar nu cred….cert e ca toti care l-au folosit pana acum nu se plang si merge bine….cu toate meniurile si butoanele activate.
REPET…NU INSTALATI MITIME DACA NU L-ATI AVUT INSTALAT INAINTE DE UNLOCK-UL ACTUAL LA 4.1, ASTEPTATI UN UPDATE AL TEWAK-ULUI…..CAT DE CURAND!
PS: pe acelasi site gasiti si info despre cum sa activati Push Notification pe 4.1….dar asta costa. Fiecare certificat 5.99$. NU mi se pare mult, merge garantat!

O fi de la telefon sau de la Cosmote? Foloseste cineva facetime pe Cosmote?

Salut. Telefonul a fost codat pe at&t si acum il folosesc pe Orange Romania (care e operator oficial nu?)
pai ai folosit ultrasn0w sa il deblokezi, nu? Adik nu l-ai luat din state si odata ajuns aici ai bagat sim de orange. Nu merge.
Deci in cazul asta, telefonul fiind codat pe at&t, kiar dca il folosesti in orange (operator oficial aici), sistemul a avut nevoie de unlock si practic vede orange ca operator neoficial.
