i believe U use OpenType fonts. Freehand can’t handle with open type. convert your fonts in TrueType or PostScript format

Unfortunately Freehand does not offer support for Unicode fonts, therefore it cannot access the Romanian characters available in a Unicode font like Lucida Grande or Helvetica. Converting OpenType fonts to TT or Type1 will not fix this issue.

The only solution is to find a modified font, where the Romanian letters are placed somewhere into the first 255 characters. These fonts were quite common a few years ago, having names line TimesRO or HelveticaRO.

Hi again
I tried that modified some font as romanian script for macos carbon app via font editor program like fontlab. But not work. then I downloaded to try TimesRO, HelveticaRO but not work too.

There is no problem other CE language such as Polish, Hungary, Croation, Slovac or Greek…

I wonder MacOS X need any system bundle for carbon app. to work.

Have you got other solution for this problem ?

Try the old .RO fonts bundles with MAC OS 7-9. You will find some in my package for Romanian, free download at http://www.unibuc.ro/en/cd_sorpaliga_en
If still in trouble, send me PM

Unfortunately, you can’t use modified fonts as it. You must convert the text from Word 2004 into a modified version.
I can send you a script for Word (a macro) and two Romanian fonts (one with and one without serif).
There isn’t possible to apply directly in Freehand.
But you can use Illustrator. It can read unicode.
PM if you think it’s useful.

Obviously, your mother tongue is not English. What language can you write best? Perhaps, if clearer your messages, we may help you more conveniently.
