Am intrat astazi pe DSLReports la sectiunea Speed Test si am observat ca au o sectiune acum pentru teste de viteza si latenta si pentru iPhone.

De asemenea, am primit azi-dimineata un memo interesant.

The iPhone is being targeted towards the consumer and the iPod user base.
The iPhone per AT&T internal policy cannot be sold to enterprise accounts.
AT&T Wireless has the exclusive distribution rights to this product for the first five years, limiting its use to their markets.
We will continue to monitor the technology as it evolves and evaluate it for appropriate use within the enterprise.
In the typical corporate speak, asta nu este un NU definitiv, dar destul de ferm pentru acest moment. Simplu spus este un consumer device, nu corporate.
Sa disec putin punctele prezentate, care de fapt sunt foarte putine din cele numeroase, mult mai tehnice, auzite de mine.

Yeppers! Noi folosim 3rd party apps pentru a bloca si cripta toata informatia de pe BBs si PDAs. Astfel, daca cineva-si pierde device-ul, este practic useless. Nu pot fi recuperate date de pe el, nu poate fi folosit decat dupa un hard reset.

Exchange treaca-mearga, dar avem o infrastructura IBM foarte dezvoltata. Desi avem si Mac-uri, acestea nu reprezinta nici macar 2% daca nu ma insel din numarul total de workstation-uri. Sunt folosite in principal pentru marketing, public relations, mass media communications, ceva software development si audio/video editing.

Well, sper ca se schimba. Astfel nu putem beneficia de nici un fel de corporate discount, volume licensing, nimic. E clar ca Apple si AT&T vor sa mulga faima cat de mult posibil.
Ca sa va faceti o idee aproximativa, avem in jur de 100 de mii de angajati directi, nenumarand contractorii. Suntem numarul doi la proliferarea tehnologiei imediat dupa gvuvernul american si, chit ca suntem o companie mutuala, daca ne retragem investitiile pica piata de stocuri instant. Daca iPhone-ul ar fi adoptat ca o alternativa la Blackberry-ul ce este folosit la nivelul executive, asta ar insemna o bucatica de placinta generoasa pentru Apple si AT&T.
