the Intel build of Safari is the fastest web browser that I have ever used, on any platform. Instead of bouncing in the dock and forcing you to wait, Safari opens a new window and loads a page almost instantly when you open it.

I hasten to say that the MBP is the fastest Mac I have ever used, keeping in mind I have not yet had a chance to play with the Intel iMac.

În plus, trackpadul e cât cel de pe PowerBookurile de 17”, și au mutat antenele pentru wireless (deci e clar că nu o nimeriseră bine cu așezarea din modelele anterioare).

Or fi avand un disculet Flash asa cum se zvonea? De aia booteaza “BLIP”?

Nu cred că e Flash, ci este meritul/vina EFI-ului.

http://www.intel.com/technology/efi/ e pagina oficială, iar articolul ăsta explică în cuvinte obișnuite cam ce este EFI și ce vrea el. Destul de impresionant.

EFI ca EFI, dar pe macurile existente, dupa ce trece faza cu open firmware, OS-ul tot sta ceva pana se incarca, in nici un caz nu face “blip”... cel putin nu la mine…

When I re-opened it, the pointer was frozen and me and the Apple rep had to do a hard restart by holding down the power key.

Adică ... e gata și nu prea e gata

Cred ca muncesc saracii 48 de ore pe zi ca sa il aiba gata in februarie…

daca chiar era “gata” nu cred ca ar fi scapat ocazia sa faca o demonstratie. dar Phil Schiller statea cu el pe genunchi in sala

Ei…. sunt “gata”, dar nu sunt “gata-gata” Altfel ar fi fost disponibile inca de acum, ca si iMacurile, nu din februarie.

Mac-urile cu procesoare intel merg mai repede in principal din doua motive. Primul, evident, este procesorul - mai rapid decat modelele precedente. Al doilea este compilatorul. GCC (pe care il folosea Apple pentru arhitectura PowerPC) nu e cel mai grozav din lume cand vine vorba de viteza codului rezultat. Prin comparatie, despre compilatorul Intel (folosit acum pentru procesoarele intel) am auzit numere de genul 30-40% mai rapid decat GCC pe i386 (care la randul lui e mai bine optimizat ca GCC pe PowerPC).

Ufff… credeam ca o sa vad in sfarsit un laptop Apple cu o baterie care tine 5-6 ore… 2 ore inca tine iBook-ul meu G3 din prima generatie.

MBP 2.16 GHz, in benchmark cu Cinebench (Universal) s-a comportat similar cu un Power Mac G5 Dual 2.5 GHz. Ceea ce e super cool!
